One Little Plane’s upcoming sophomore album Into the Trees will feature Colin Greenwood and be produced by Four Tet!

Into the Trees will be released in May by Text Records. As a first listen, stream the lead single, “She Was Out in the Water”, below. Coincidentally, the album also includes a track called “Bloom”.

Upon first listen, the vocals are reminiscent of early versions of “Nude,” with Yorke’s vocals echoing through waves of hollow reverb. Check it out!

Now that didn’t take long. LA-native band The Robotanists have covered the entirety of The King of Limbs within 24 hours of it’s unexpectedly early release. Why listen to a cover of the record when you can’t yet possibly be tired of digesting the actual one? I’m not sure, but it’s still an impressively quick and well-done collection of covers

Our Radiohead holiday came a day early, as many of us were surprised to find the newest Radiohead album “The King of Limbs” waiting for us to nervously download this morning! Side-stepping unwanted leaks and any lengthy media build up, the band announced the record this week and self-released the album digitally today with the physical copy to follow (presumably sometime this spring). Available in both WAV and MP3, and for far cheaper than a standard 10 bucks iTunes has made us accustomed to.

The album’s depth is such that any immediately review would be unwise, but here’s a quick breakdown of the record.

The album is eight tracks long, and clocks in at a short 37 minutes. The track list is as follows:

3. Little by Little
4. Feral
5. Lotus Flower
6. Codex
7. Give Up The Ghost
8. Separator

A few initial highlights are Morning Mr. Magpie, and the catchyLittle by Little. Magpie originally appeared in a live webcast the during the Kid A/Amnesiac era as an acoustic solo performance. Given the full studio treatment, the song is able to flourish, as its accented by chirpy percussion loops punchy guitar fuzz. Aside form the album’s single Lotus Flower, Little by Little is probably the album’s catchiest tune, which layers Yorke’s falsetto over groovy percussion.

I laugh when I think about the fledgling internet culture that, at the time, made such a hub-bub about Yorke’s spastic dance moves onstage during the Kid A era live shows. This video, in many ways, reminds me of a classier version of that, with a stylish bowler to boot.

The King of Limbs

Radiohead’s eighth full-length album, was announced today. It is slated to be released digitally this Saturday, with pre orders available presently. You can order the album in a variety of ways, both mp3 and wav formats are available, and a special edition “Newspaper Record” which is more expensive, but comes with two clear 10″ vinyls, a CD, digital download on Saturday, and to quote: “Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.”

The announcement comes to us via a Dead Air Space post that reads simply “Thank You For Waiting.”

Telegraph.co.uk has listed the top ten albums of all time that you must listen to in thief entirety. Dark Side of the Moon tops the list, (one of two Pink Floyd albums on there), with other notable icons like Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen also making appearances. OK Computer makes it to number nine, just beating out After the Goldrush.

Serge Pizzorno wants his band’s next album to resemble Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’, saying not the specific sound of the record but “‘OK Computer’, as a record that just makes you go, ‘Wow’ [is the inspiration]. I want to aim for something that’s as incredible as that, just the feeling of being blown away that you get from that.”

Serge saying how much he can’t wait to play some of the album live, explaining: “I just want people to fucking come away from it going, ‘Yep, great album. It’s different, I love this. Let’s go see it live. Thank you.’ Then off we go again.”

The band is scheduled to perform at the Isle Of Wight Festival and Scotland’s RockNess in June. Pizzorno adds that he’d like to have some new music out before then.

Basically, the theory purports that In rainbows was written as an accompaniment to the previously released OK Computer (10 years earlier). As the theory goes, combine the two records in one playlist (by basically alternating every-other song) and set a 10-second crossfade in between tracks.

A few interesting things to listen for:

• The Blogger pointed out that the last four beats of “Airbag” set new tempo for “15 Step”
• The reverb the fades out at the end of “Subterranean Homesick Alien” goes right into “Nude.”
