Radiohead: Thank You for Waiting

The King of Limbs

Radiohead’s eighth full-length album, was announced today. It is slated to be released digitally this Saturday, with pre orders available presently. You can order the album in a variety of ways, both mp3 and wav formats are available, and a special edition “Newspaper Record” which is more expensive, but comes with two clear 10″ vinyls, a CD, digital download on Saturday, and to quote: “Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.”

New Radiohead Album Announced

Jonny clears up a bit of artistic license author Alex Young (ConsequnceofSound.net) took when describing the progress Radiohead’s made in recording their next album. Jonny posted the following in Dead Ait Space:

I think this italian writer (referred to here) has, either through over-enthusiasm, or frustration at all my non-committal answers, mistranslated me a little….in fact we haven’t quite finished the album – in the studio at the moment – nor have we yet considered any touring. The plan is to have no plan until the record is finished….hope that’s a little clearer!

Radiohead has not “quite finished the album”

Right before the Halloween holiday, Colin posted a seasonal message on Dead Air Space, featuring a collection of old photos compiled by Ossian Brown in Haunted Air. Most of the photos are especially haunting because they feature young children, swathed in goulash masks. The article discusses how the halloween traditions we all take for granted in the states were a relatively recent development overseas. His book is available at retailers now.

Thom posts ‘office chart..’ on DAS

In a short a post on Dead Air Space, Colin praises the late producer WIllie Mitchell. Mitchell , who passed at age 81, produced some of the greatest Soul music of the 60′s and 70′s including Al Green, Ann Peebles and others as the house producer at Hi Records.

“He made some of the sweetest, slinkiest, soulful records ever. I remember years ago round at Jonny’s listening to
‘That Driving Beat ‘, then devouring all the southern soul records he made…”
