“Two Minute Silence” has cracked the Top 20 charts and it doesn’t look like anything is going to stop it from climbing higher. The “song” is literally two minutes of dead air, no audio what-so-ever, which serves as a tribute to servicemen in the Royal British Legion.
All the money raised by Two Minute Silence will go to The Royal British Legion and the funds will support troops, veterans and their families. The cost to purchase the song is £1.00 which comes with a bonus music video.
You can get the single here.
Thom Yorke wrote more on the ‘Off Topic‘ section of Radiohead’s website. Talking about Harry Patch, the war veteran who Radiohead recorded a track after he passed away last year.
Thom Yorke:
It seemed appropriate to publish this ahead of the 2 minutes silence being played in the charts tomoro….Before Rihannna or Tke thaT or whatever the f__…….
Heathcotte sent me this saying he had been listening to our harry patch tune while writing it.
And as far as i know its unpublished..
To me the 2minutes silence is to wish the souls of those who have lost their lives in war may rest in peace.
And that we consider very very carefully the rights of governments to make decisions to go to war in future.. based on lies.
