Radiohead premiered two new songs last night. Here they are for your enjoyment!

Indentikit

Groovy tempo with layered vocals take a second to click into a nice hook, but when it does…

Cut a Hole

Upon first listen, the vocals are reminiscent of early versions of “Nude,” with Yorke’s vocals echoing through waves of hollow reverb. Check it out!

Now that didn’t take long. LA-native band The Robotanists have covered the entirety of The King of Limbs within 24 hours of it’s unexpectedly early release. Why listen to a cover of the record when you can’t yet possibly be tired of digesting the actual one? I’m not sure, but it’s still an impressively quick and well-done collection of covers

In Rainbow Remixes

After Radiohead’s “Nude Remix Project” was so successful, they decided to let everyone have a go at “Reckoner,” a fan-favorite from their latest album In Rainbows.

The individual ‘stems’ are available for purchase, to make things a little less difficult. The ‘stems’ that you could purchase are bass, lead vocals, backing vocals, guitar, piano/strings and drums. You can do what ever you want to the stems and add what ever you would like to your remix (provided you have the necessary software). Read the rest of this entry »

Phil Selway

Since the release of Phil Selway’s Familial earlier this month, there’s been a lot said in the annals of our digital rumor mill. It seems that many journalists have had a hard time getting past the record’s novelty and assessing it’s content. But maybe that’s the most honest way to review this record, as the reality is that Familial would not have gotten nearly as much attention if it had been released by Joe Schmo.

Pitchfork gives Familial a 4.9/10, yet heaps praise at both Selway and the record, summing up the album with, “It’s a modest, mannered record that prizes directness, simplicity and bittersweet sentiment above all, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.” Being the mother-of-all-internet-review-sites, Pitchfork seems to have set the Familial digital zeitgeist, with many other online music critiques following in-tow.

Radiohead - House of Cards

Radiohead’s music video for “House of Crads” (the first sing from In Rainbows), is certainly unique. It’s filmed without any cameras at all. Employing various 3D plotting techniques (called ” Geometric Informatics” and “Velodyne LIDAR”) and digital manipulation, a team of technicians assembled the video from images of Thom Yorke and a neighborhood.

You can read a much more in depth analysis of how they made the video at this google code page: http://code.google.com/creative/radiohead/. Google also hosts an impressively in-depth video about the “making of,” including behind-the-scenes takes of Yorke and an explanation of the technology from the director.

Fall is officially on our doorstep; school is starting and the weather is (hopefully) getting a little cooler. We thought this is a great time to offer the perfect dorm room decorations: Free Radiohead Posters. Employing the use of a fantastic tool called “Rasterbator” (sound dirty, I know), we’ve generated four free radiohead posters, and made them available here for free download.

Rasterbator uses a Halftone pattern filter to generate large PDF versions of any image, and split up into convenient 8 x 11 printable pages. It requires a small amount of craftiness to print them out, and tape them together, and then viola! – your very own, free radiohead poster, perfect for over the bed, your dorm room window, or a living room shrine.

We made the four posters in two different sizes each. The large format is 8 page wide (variable height which depends on the image), and the small format is 4 pages wide.
